The Montgomery County School District is the largest in Maryland and its schools have been recipients of numerous awards. More than 90% of high school students graduate. The 2002 SAT results from the Educational Testing Service show that the 6,814 seniors who took the exam produced an average score of 1095, the second-highest system wide average SAT score in MCPS history. For those seeking higher education, there are numerous colleges and universities in the area.
Montgomery College is a rich resource for Montgomery County residents with an extensive menu of concerts, conferences, lectures, theatre performances, sporting events, and other activities, many of which are free. County residents can borrow books from our libraries, enroll their children in our daycare centers, attend job fairs on campus, and take advantage of a variety of unique community partnerships designed to enrich the lives of our citizens -- from children to seniors.
The new Montgomery County Campus of Johns Hopkins University in nearby Rocklin was established in association with the county government to expand higher education opportunities for adults living and working in the greater Montgomery County/Washington, D.C. region. The campus houses four schools including the Kreiger School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, the Whiting School of Engineering and the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
